Stolen Valor

We are being sued by Ryan B Kleiman for defamation, false light, libel, ect...

We originally took the website down in good faith that both sides would play by the courts rules to work through the matter. Since the Plaintiff has decided the rules don't apply to him the website is being republished with the update to the status of the lawsuit and the defendants position on the lawsuit filed by plaintiff, the original page in question is still being kept offline.

Kleiman is currently over seven weeks late for submission of production of  documents and is three weeks late for interrogatories. Funny, if it were me I would have submitted everything early, as I would be jumping at the bit to prove the lack of validity of the statements in question. Just like I am doing with this statement, even against advice. You may mistake kindness as weakness but I cannot allow silence to be misconstrued as guilt.

It is in our opinion that the retirement credentials Kleiman received from the now defunct SPCA police department where he may have volunteered  part-time are questionable if not outright fraudulent. We make that statement due to the fact Kleiman didn't graduate/finish any police academy until the summer of 2017 when he was 47 years old(which was a part-time academy, nights and weekends). The SPCA was shut down early 2018 and somehow Kleiman was issued NJ Police retirement credentials at that time. It is in our opinion that the mere accepting of those credentials constitutes stolen valor let alone the act of actually actively portraying yourself as a retired police officer when you absolutely know you didn't earn the title or the credentials.

It is also in our opinion that Kleiman knew he didn't qualify for the security company license he applied for and received for Statewide Protective service LLC. We state this due to the fact Kleiman acknowledged he wasn't a supervisor at any of the security guard companies where he worked and didn't meet the 5 year supervisor requirement months before he applied for the license. So how was the license obtained?

Statewide is still in operation by previous employees of the SPCA under the same license number, which can be found at www.statewideprotective.us

Kleiman  portrays himself as a "retired cop", when he has never worked and received an hourly or salaried wage from any real police department. Other than millisecond stint at the SPCA, while he was an armed security guard. He worked for three different  companies that had the contract with social security to provide armed security guards. He was one of the guards at the desk when you walk into the building. His job is a job that a lot of retired Police Officers take after a 20yr career,  its cushy, its easy, but having that job doesn't make you a retired law enforcement officer. He had to apply every two years for a license to carry while in his security uniform, the same license armored car drivers/carriers receive, not the same authorization Police Officers, local or federal receive.  Opra documentation in hand to prove statements not made by Kleiman himself.

In case anyone doesn't understand the NJ definition of a retired police officer please see below.

In New Jersey, a retired  police officer is a former sworn member of a state or local police  department who has separated from the service, typically by attaining  mandatory retirement age or other conditions of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS), and receives a service retirement allowance or pension. While  no longer an active law enforcement official, a retired officer may  retain certain privileges, such as firearm carrying rights under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) and the state's Retired Police Officer Program (RPO)

OR to be more official for the lawyers:

 43:15A-99. Retirement

A member who has attained the age of 55 and who immediately prior to  retirement has 20 years of creditable service as a law enforcement  officer, shall be eligible for service retirement as a law enforcement  officer. Any member in service who is a law enforcement officer at the  time of attaining age 65 years shall be retired on a service retirement  allowance forthwith or on the first day of the next calendar month, as  is determined by the board of trustees; provided, however, any law  enforcement officer who is a veteran shall not be retired at age 65  years if he does not have 20 years of service in office, position or  employment of this State, or of any county, municipality or school  district, but such veteran member shall be retired upon the completion  of such 20 years of service or upon attaining age 70 years, whichever is  earlier; and provided, further, that any member of the Public  Employees' Retirement System who was a member of the Prison Officers'  Pension Fund on the date of termination of said fund and who elected not  to obtain credit as a law enforcement officer shall not be required to  retire on account of age until age 70.

L.1955, c. 257, p. 941, s. 3. Amended by L.1956, c. 55, p. 108, s. 2; L.1959, c. 170, p. 701, s. 3.
